Sheffield Road
Renovation & Additions

Photography: Adrian Catalano

At the beginning of the project, while walking through this grand vintage Tudor home, the first comment the owner made was, “I don't like Tudor and I really don’t like stucco.” Our challenge was to renovate the entire house, add a garage, front entrance porch and kitchen, and give the house a new non-Tudor look. We softened the Tudor style through a layering of materials: clapboard, stone, and stucco.

We introduced clapboard siding to the first floor and third floor dormer, and designed a field stone entrance porch, using these elements to expand the stylistic palette and add visual interest. The addition included a large garage, a golf cage in the basement, and a large new kitchen above. The entire house was gut renovated, which opened and enlarged the family room into the kitchen. We also designed a mahogany library/office and added four new bathrooms.
